My Inspiration

My Inspiration

Photography is my passion; I believe this is because of my love for life and for people.

I have been known to become weepy at just the mention of my children growing up, and you’ll often hear me say how I wish I could just freeze time, stop here, take a break, and just be.  However, as we all know, life doesn’t work that way.  The next best thing to having a time machine, therefore, is photographs.  To me, photographs – more than even video or sound – have the ability to draw you in and make you FEEL what you are seeing.  It’s that frozen moment that evokes profound memories or imaginings.  Next time you look at a photograph, notice how you are able to feel what you are seeing, you can understand what is happening just by the look in the subject’s eyes, you can tell what time of day it is by the lighting, what the mood of the moment is by the atmosphere of the image, and often, you can get inside that photo and relive the moment.

Stop,
stare,
and appreciate
how big a simple, every day moment can be.

In my photography, I strive to capture — not create — simple moments.  I don’t pose, I don’t force smiles, or “perfect” everything in the frame.  I simply let you be you, let your kids be themselves, and let your relationships shine.  I promise you that your child pouting because she doesn’t want her picture taken will become one of your all time favorite images.  Why?  Because it is HER.  It is who she is on this day at this time.  It’s not fake, it’s not forced, it’s not superficial.  And when you look back at that image after she’s all grown up, I also promise you that you will experience the moment again.
